Chimney Sweeping - the chimney is cleaned using a brush that is the correct size for the chimney flue, a vacuum and white tarps to protect the surrounding area.  The brush is run the full length of the flue.  A visual inspection is performed on each flue after it is cleaned.  An estimate for any needed repairs is provided.  Fireplaces, fireplaces

with inserts, wood stove chimney flues, furnace flues for gas and oil appliances, and dryer vents are cleaned.

Animal Removal - if the chimney flues are not protected by a chimney cap or screen, it is possible for animals to enter the chimney flues.  Animals can make a home in a flue by building a nest, bringing in food and using it for a place to

have babies.  Unfortunately, animals sometimes die in chimney flues.  Emergency service is provided to remove animals and to clean the chimney.

Chimney Crown Repair - the chimney crown is a concrete piece at the top of the chimney that seals off the air space between the outer walls of the masonry chimney and the flue liner.  The cement crown slopes away from the liner to shed water.

firebox1

Firebox Repair & Restoration
The firebox is the chamber of a fireplace where the fire actually burns.  Fireboxes are built using firebrick (a special brick composed of clay and silica designed to withstand high temperatures).

Smoke Chamber Repair & Restoration
The smoke chamber is the chamber in a fireplace directly above the smoke shelf that extends to the base of the flue.

Clay Tile Lining Replacement
Sometimes the clay tile lining at either the top or the base of the chimney flue, or both, becomes deteriorated.  If the remaining clay tile lining in the chimney is in good condition, just the deteriorated sections can be replaced.

Chimney Tuckpoint - new cement is applied between the bricks of the chimney.

Repair, Restore or Rebuild
Full range of repairs to your chimney system, from fixing a minor problem to pouring a new footing and building the chimney from the ground up.  Chimneys can be constructed from brick, chimney block and cement block.  Prefabricated chimney systems also installed.

Chimney Parge
A layer of mortar is applied to the exterior of the chimney structure.

Visual Inspections of Chimney Systems - inspection includes looking at the chimney system from both the base and roof areas.  A written condition report is provided upon the completion of the inspection.  Visual inspections satisfy the requirements of condo associations and are usually a safe precaution before purchasing a new home.

Chim-Scan Video Inspections
A Chim-Scan Inspection incorporates the use of a closed circuit camera and equipment specifically designed and developed to inspect the internal structure of a chimney system.  This equipment permits inspection of the area within the chimney that would not be normally visible for any defects that could pose health or fire hazards.  It also enables the technician to develop the most informed strategy for dealing with a vast array of chimney problems.

Chimney Cap Installation - chimney caps keep out rain, snow, animals and other debris.  The chimney caps that we sell are made of 100% stainless steel and have a lifetime warranty against rust and deterioration.  Custom caps are available in an array of sizes to suite just about every chimney and come in stainless steel, copper, brass, and black.

Damper Installation
A damper is the movable plate used for controlling the flow of air and smoke in a fireplace.  Dampers can rust, warp and need replacement.  Top-sealing

damper

dampers mount to the top of the chimney and are controlled by a stainless steel cable that attaches to a handle in the firebox area.  Top-sealing dampers are used to replace deteriorated, malfunctioning or missing dampers.  Dampers reduce heat loss, eliminate down drafts, and save on heating and air conditioning costs.

Creosote Removal - creosote is a byproduct of burning wood.  Deposits of creosote can build up in a chimney and are very flammable.  Creosote buildup is removed by performing a mechanical cleaning of the chimney flue.  We use special tools that were developed to remove creosote buildup without damaging the internal structure of the flue.

water-damage

Water Repellent - water repellent is applied to chimneys to protect the masonry chimney against deterioration from water penetration.  Water penetration and freeze/thaw damage can cause homeowners costly repair bills.  Water repellent is not the same as a water sealer; water sealant can cost homeowners money because it traps water vapor inside the chimney.  If this water vapor does not escape, it will condense, freeze and accelerate freeze/thaw damage.  The water repellent that is applied does not trap water vapor, does not change the color of the chimney, and creates a photo-reactive process that allows the treated surface to repel water similar to the way two identical poles of magnet repel each other.

Bell Fires - Bell Fires are used when the flue is found to be undersized for the total area size of the fire box, the bell fire is a pre-cast fire box that is set into the existing fire box and connected to a stainless steel smoke chamber and liner that runs up the entire length of the chimney.
