Certified Chimney Service, Inc. comes from its current owners
association with Certified Chimney Contractors, Inc. Certified Chimney
Contractors was founded in 1960 by Harry Richart. He was the past
president of the National Chimney Sweep Guild and one of the founding members
and past president of the New Jersey Chimney Sweep Guild. Mr. Richart |

was a champion of the consumer, demanding high quality and honest work to be
performed by those in the chimney cleaning, repair and restoration field.
Upon the death of Mr. Richart in 1999, two of his former employees founded Certified
Chimney Service, Inc. desiring to use their combined experience of over
40 years to continue the tradition set forth by Mr. Richart of prompt,
dependable and honest service to the homeowners of New Jersey and New York City. |

in a timely manner and meets or exceeds local, state, and national building
codes and construction practices. As the weather gets colder, homeowners begin
to use their fireplaces and furnaces more. How often a chimney should be
cleaned is dependent upon how often it is used. "Many people allow
their chimney to get to dirty. This causes the flow of gasses to be
restricted and can cause smoke to reenter the home or even a chimney
fire." It is a good idea to have your chimney cleaned and inspected
yearly. The best time of year to have your chimney system serviced is
in the spring and summer. This will have your system ready for the
fall and winter months when you need it the most. It also eliminates the
scheduling back log that occurs each fall which can delay your appointment for
weeks or delays due to inclement weather. REMEMBER the best time to
schedule is SPRING and SUMMER - there is usually a better off
season offer for service as well. |

When Certified Chimney Service, Inc. goes to a home to perform a
fireplace, woodstove, or furnace chimney cleaning, they also inspect the chimney
system. Most chimneys are constructed of brick with a terra cotta
liner. Over the years, the chimney can develop cracks in the |
|
|
 |
liner. Cracks in the flue liner can permit sparks to escape to
flammable areas of the home (a definite fire hazard) or fumes (a health
hazard). The chimney is also checked to see if there is a chimney cap
installed. Chimney caps prevent animals, rain, leaves and debris from
entering the chimney flue. Certified Chimney Service, Inc. uses
long pole with brushes sized to accommodate the different size flues. Call
for price a quotation of chimney cleanings. Prices for repairs,
rebuilding, and installation of linings for deteriorated flues depend on the
circumstances at each job. |
